2008-09 REGISTRATION PACKAGE – Travel Programs

Tryout Registration Package (Word version, Adobe PDF Version)

Philosophy of Perinton Youth Hockey:

The purpose of Perinton Youth Hockey (PYH) is to promote the sport of ice hockey for individuals under the age of eighteen, residing in the vicinity of Monroe County, New York, in order to develop their playing skills, to teach and encourage good sportsmanship and to foster healthy competition as an alternative to delinquency.  PYH recognizes that player and child development occurs at different levels as well as different intensity levels.  PYH is divided into four divisions from Initiation & Skill Development to Elite.  These levels are meant to put ‘like-skilled’ players together so they learn and progress together.  Development is over many years – there will be good and bad experiences – they all contribute to the development of the player involved.

Perinton Youth Hockey, Inc. is a nonprofit organization, created to promote the sport of ice hockey for individuals ages 4-18 (4-19 for females). PYH is committed to providing the highest level of teaching expertise available.

Player Development General Philosophy

PYH is an organization that focuses on the development of its coaches and players.

Regardless of the level, coaches are expected to follow the PYH minimum skill development guidelines for each group.

These guidelines are designed to follow a progression of skills so that all players are taught accordingly and have been recommended by our Player Development Committee as a starting point for deriving a program where PYH develops our players systematically from year to year.

All Perinton Youth Hockey Teams should focus on the following:

1. Skating – Continue to be known as an organization that develops good skaters. Focus on “speed”, quick feet mobility & agility.

2. Passing – Emphasis the importance of passing

3. Read & React – develop this skill through situational play i.e. 2 on 1 & Small Ice Games

4. Keeping it Fun!!

Our Programs:

Travel Program:  Perinton Youth Hockey will once again compete as a Tier I/AAA organization during the 2008-2009 season at the Major/Minor travel level. All of our AAA Major teams, and the AAA Midget Minor team, will compete towards State and National titles (except at the Mite level). Games will consist of other organizations, matched by skill level through Western and Central New York and occasionally other teams in New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, New England and Canada.

Rochester Alliance Registration and Tryout will be a separate form and fees.  Go to the Rochester Alliance website.

Edge Girls Travel Hockey Tryout information will be available on the Perintonyouthhockey.org website.

To Register – all Travel, High School Prep Programs:  Register at Tryouts – travel players are required to bring 2 checks: (1) the registration fee (see fee schedule at right) and (2) the $100.00 placement deposit – if you are not offered a position this is returned to you (un-cashed).  The Travel and Select programs (with the exception of Midgets) utilize an estimated, team based, pricing formula.  Final per player pricing is determined by the actual number of players on the team on the last day of September in the current season.
